Fly Ash Bricks and Their Importance

Fly ash bricks, governed by the IS code 12894:2002, are a significant innovation in the construction industry. Made from fly ash, water, quick lime, and river sand, these bricks meet the requirements of IS: 12894. The IS 137571 and IS 16720 standards also provide specifications for burnt clay fly ash bricks and pulverized fuel ash-cement bricks, respectively.

These bricks are increasingly favored due to their environmental benefits and superior attributes over traditional bricks. They are known for their durability, strength, and reduced permeability which makes them resistant to moisture damage. Moreover, they require less energy in production as they don’t need burning, making them a more sustainable choice
